This clever puzzle game is all about recognizing patterns – but while there’s math involved, it’s not simply dealing with numbers.
A series of differently colored shapes appear on the screen – sometimes, it will be a sequence and you will be asked what comes next in the sequence, sometimes it will be a series of shapes in a pattern and you will be asked which pattern matches. To crack the puzzle, you’ll need to work out the key to the pattern. For example, the series might have more of one type of shape each time, or the pattern might vary by color or shape, and you need to compare how those vary with the possible answers.
Teaching kids how pattern recognition can apply beyond numbers, this exercise is great for kids in first grade.
